Fran’s Devotion 12-11-12

Good morning,

Last evening as I listened to the thunder and sound of gentle rain, I was reminded again of the blessings God gives to us.  And with that are the promises of more.  And that reminds me of Ezekiel 34:26 which says, “I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing.”

I think probably Daniel Whittle had this in mind when he wrote the song, “Showers of Blessing.”  The refrain goes like this:
“Showers of blessing, showers of blessing we need:  Mercy-drops round us are falling, But for the showers we plead.”

Father God, we come thanking You not only for the rain You send, but for all the blessings You pour out upon us.  Let us absorb your blessings and mercy like the dry ground absorbs the moisture.  Help us that we might reflect Your love and mercy in all we say and do this day.  In the name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

In His service,
Fran

ElderNet-Reassurance & Safety Checks

We have lost a neighbor in Morganwoods

We recently had a homeowner, who lived alone and passed away. It is particularly sad because no one knew of the passing for approximately 30 days when the body was discovered.

We have concern for anyone who lives alone without having someone to check on them periodically.

If this describes you, there is help available through the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. They have a web site at www.crisiscenter.com . Their service is called, “ElderNet-Reassurance & Safety Checks”. This is a phone service manned 24 hours a day by senior volunteers who are willing to call people like our neighbor on a regular basis. Or, the person living by themselves can call them. Their number is 964-1577. The person wanting this service must call this number and ask for it.
