Devotion 12-28-12

Good morning,

Christmas has passed, but hopefully the Present Who was the reason for the season remains in your heart and evident in your life.  While our days may go back to the “usual routine” nothing is ever quite the same as the day before.  I’m praying it will be better.

The author of Hebrews writes these words:  “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you.  Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:7). That reminds us that their lives were not always easy, but they saw the greater picture of following Christ.  And the same admonition that they gave, so should we all: “Pray for us….”(v.17a).  It is prayer that sustains each of us whether we are leaders who speak the word, or followers who obey God’s word.  The same God hears and answers.

Father God, today we come thanking You for all You’ve been to us over the past year.  Continue to let Your love shine on us and all America and the world.  Give us grateful hearts to accept all Your gifts with humility and praise Your name through it all.  In Your Son’s name and for His sake.  Amen.

In His service,
Fran

Update on TJ

Hi Fran

Procedure for TJ did not go well today and they have decided to do immediate surgery to remove a section of the colon, a tumor and the abscess.  The downside is that this pushes back his chemo treatment until mid January and the fear is that more tumors will grow before then.  Surgery is scheduled for 2pm tomorrow, so asking for more prayers that all goes well, no delays in healing so he can get back to treatment.   The silver lining is that now he will be home for Christmas instead of in the hospital going through chemo.  The Lord works in his own way –

Thank you to everyone for their prayers!

Jamie
