Dana Long Prayer Request 12-1-12

Dear Friends..

Dana asked that I forward her e-mail to all who have prayed, inquired, and helped her and our family through their accident.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts…..

Subj: Dana Long– Thank you All

Dear My Family and Friends

I am usually pretty good at putting my words together and being able to say thank you but in this time of distress I feel a thank you just is not enough.. I wish I had the right words to express my appreciation for your  kindness it means so much to me to see how much you all cared.

I have never had such a terrible thing happen to me or my family in all my years, I could not imagine how I could have done it alone. My daughter and I have been doing our best to recover but every day when I wake up hoping that it will be better than the last I find that we are two steps behind. This has been such a challenge and an experience that will live with us forever.

We are doing everything that the doctors direct but we just haven’t found that strength to take away the physical and emotion pain. Our daughter has taken this a lot harder then we could have imagined, her days and nights are filled with staring at the walls and hearing the accident repeat over and over in her mind. We will all seek counseling and do what we can to mend our experience and do all we can to move forward.

Although we are very blessed to be here today I feel that this has taken a toll on our family and has turned everything upside down. We are a faith based family and believe that everything happens for Gods reasons but we still have not made sense or have not yet figured out why he has chosen to put this in our path. Right now we are only hoping that God will help us in a healthy quick recovery.

After the accident it has been incredibly hard to piece our lives back together again, but with wonderful friends like you, every day is a bit brighter than the last. All the support that you have shown for myself and my family is a great overwhelming feeling. Thank you so much for being there for us when we needed it most, and for demonstrating the true meaning of friendship.

I will do my best to keep in touch and hope to see everyone soon but until I am strong enough, I wanted to say from my heart thank you for being as wonderful as you all are!

Devotion 11/02/12

Good morning,

As I was returning from the Nursing Home  yesterday I heard a song that had been a favorite of mine a few years ago.  It’s called “From a Distance.”  But as I listened to the words, I realized they are not true for a Christian.  When she said that “God is watching us from a distance” I realized that for us Christians He’s as near as the next breath we take.

Jesus tells us in John 14:16-18 these things:  “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He will abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him;  but you know Him,  for He dwells with you and will be with you.    “I will not leave you as orphans.  I will come to you.”

Friends, regardless of the things that come our way to discourage us, remember we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit.  Draw strength from that  knowledge and promise and may God bless richly with His power. In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

In His service,

Fran

work day and time change this weekend

Dear Wesley Family:

Don’t forget this is a time to help clean up our church with lunch to follow on Saturday.  Time is 9-1:00.

After the working on Saturday 3rd, you’ll get an extra hour’s sleep on Sunday since we will be turning our clock’s back on Saturday night.

Working and eating together is just another way to worship.

In His service,

Fran
