Devotion 12-27-12

Until we’ve accepted Christ as our Savior, we are prodigals.  If this is you or you have one in your family, these words of Max Lucado will encourage your heart.  So let not your hearts be troubled.  God’s help is still available.

In His service,

Fran

Singing the Song Again

Today’s MP3 Do you have a prodigal?  Do you long for your spouse to return to God?  Do you have a friend whose faith has grown cold?  God wants them back more than you do.  Keep praying, but don’t give up.  God places a song in the hearts of his children.
Psalm 40:3 says it’s a “new song in my mouth.”  Some saints sing this song loud and long every single day of their lives.  In other cases the song falls silent.  Life’s hurts and happenings mute the music within.  Long seasons pass and God’s song isn’t sung!
Truth is, we don’t always know if someone has trusted God’s grace.  It isn’t ours to know.  But we know this:  Where there is genuine conversion, there is eternal salvation. Eventually his own will hear his voice, and something within them will awaken.  And when it does—they will begin to sing again.
He has put a new song in my mouth
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the Lord.  Psalm 40:3

Bridges Fundraiser Spaghetti Dinner

Hey all Warren Willis Camp Families,

We need your help for our annual Bridges Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Sunday, December 9th.  We will be decorating, cooking, setting up, serving and cleaning up from 4pm til 8pm.

PLEASE mark your calendars!  This is the 3rd year we have held this fundraiser, so as most of you know you can volunteer to work the entire time or just come for a 2 hr shift (4-6pm or 6-8pm).  Please RSVP to this email when you can come help us.

Also, we would like the youth wear black pants or nice jeans and white, red or green solid shirt.

We are also asking for donated Desserts, especially if you can’t come help.  Please drop off the desserts in the kitchen anytime Sunday before 5pm.

This dinner is for the teachers, parents, friends and family of the children that attend the Bridges at WELC Preschool.  They will have a Christmas Program in the Wesley Memorial UMC Sanctuary at 5pm and then come over to the Fellowship Hall for the spaghetti dinner, about 5:45pm.  We will be selling tickets during the preschool hours and in the Bridges Office for $8 – Adults, $4 – Children (3-10) and 2 and under are Free.  Roger Hyde has volunteered to help cook the meal – THANK YOU Roger!

This has been a good fundraiser for us in the past and all the funds raised have financially helped almost 40 children from our church attend the Warren Willis Camp in Leesburg.  All of our children benefit so much for this camp, so please be sure come help or donate a dessert if your child plans on attending the camp in the summer of 2013!

Love Devotion 11-27-2012

Good morning,
In this season of hustle and bustle , looking for the best gifts to buy for each other, we sometimes forget the real “Reason for the season.”  The best gift has already come with the real meaning of the season.  LOVE.
Roy Lessin had this to say about love:  “Love at its deepest level does not begin in the heart of man, but it begins in the heart of God.  It is a love that gives without compromise or reservation.  It is a love motivated by the choice to do the highest good for another person.  God doesn’t have this love, rather He is this love.  There are no impure motives in God’s love.  It is holy love.  His love for you is consistent with everything that is good and right for you.”  End of quote.
I John 4:10-11 says this:  “This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  11.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”  Learning to love others above ourselves is the real meaning that Jesus’ birth left us at Christmas.
Heavenly Father, help us to love and see as You do.  Thank You for Your blessings and the greatest one being Your Son who now indwells us as the Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

In His service,
Fran
