New e-mail address for Fran 12-14-12

To all my contacts:  Had a problem and after being on the phone for about two hours this afternoon , finally got the internet working again, but with a different e-mail address.  It is now mfpdmobley@gmail.comIt will take me a while to get used to it.  Sorry if your devotion was late this morning, but could only send a few at a time.

Hope this takes care of it.  In the meantime take care and if I’ve missed someone you know please advise them of the change.

Devotion 12-14-12

Finally Friday,
There are many lessons to be learned and life has a way of teaching them to us.  My husband is trying desperately to be able to walk again and against warnings, tries to do it himself which can be dangerous.
I got a call last evening that Paul had fallen, but apparently was o.k. except for an aching elbow.  His roommate Michael, who is a Vietnam Vet, called the nurse and for that we are thankful.  Roommates sort of look out for each other.
The same can be said of us when we become too self-reliant and don’t depend on God or anyone else to help.  When we lean into Him, the load becomes lighter.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 tells us:  “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.”  And Jesus tells us in Matthew 11 about our sharing our load with Him in vv. 29-30:  “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  30.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
God, on this new day let us learn to never be independent of You.  Thank You for Your love and friends and family on whom we can depend for love and support and encouragement.  All things and everyone is a gift from You.  For all our blessings we are grateful.  Most of all for the season in which we again celebrate the birth of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  In His name I pray and give glory.  Amen.
In His service,
Fran

Devotion 11/15/12

Good morning,

Over the hump of the week and as I think back on the events of the past few days and all the rushing around I did, I’m reminded of some words of King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 9:11.  It goes like this:

“The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.”

Lots of wisdom in that.  All my rushing doesn’t get any more accomplished, just keeps me out of breath.  Then I have to remember the tortoise and the hare.  It’s better to go at a steady pace than in jumps and starts.  Now that I’ve said that, hope I can remember to comply with my own advice.

God gives each of us the same amount of time each day.  Yet not everyone gets the same amount accomplished;  sometimes lack of good time management and planning.  And some days it is just plain interruptions.  And yet somedays, it is in those interruptions that God’s still small voice is heard loud and clear.  He is sometimes in the interruptions, perhaps just to get our attention.

God, help us to deliberately seek You out.  Interrupt us if You must, be let us listen  and heed what You have to say to us.  In Jesus’ name.

In His service,
