Devotion Christmas Day 12-25-12

Merry Christmas,

To all of you wonderful people who read these words, I wish you all God’s blessings today and into the New Year.  Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.  But not just today when we celebrate His birth, but each day as we celebrate Him as our Savior.

In His service,
Fran

Prayer request 10/25/12

Dear prayer warriors:

Kathy Hyde was taken to the ER at Town and Country Hospital by her husband on Tuesday with severe pain in her side.  Still no diagnosis by Wednesday afternoon, but that could have changed by now.  Pray for her and her family.

devotion 10/26/12

 Good morning,
“Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”  (Proverbs 16:18).

The Lord has been teaching me a lot lately about pride and false pride.  When my husband became very ill suddenly and had to be put into a Nursing Home for rehab, I was not prepared for that.  Just when you think you have all your affairs in order, along comes the unexpected.  Then I began to seek help from anyone who was credible about what to do next.  This kind of experience is not something you plan in detail.

Along the way I had to wonder what we’d do when our wonderful insurance ran out.  That is when my pride kicked in and the billing clerk told me I’d better forget my pride and face reality.  Paying for this kind of medical help is very expensive.  So I sought help from the VA and then the Florida Veteran’s Nursing Home in Land O’Lakes.  A beautiful place in the country and finally got all the paper work in there today.  After the review I should hear in a couple of weeks if my husband is the most qualified for the next vacancy.

I say all this because there might be some of you facing just such decisions.  Know you are not alone and whatever I’ve learned along the way, I’ve tried to pass onto others.    And don’t let your pride get in the way of God’s helping you.  He appreciates a little humility occasionally rather than the self-sufficient individual who thinks they need no help.  Believe me we all need help and sometimes it is our turn to help others.

Lord,my prayer today is found in Proverbs 11:2 which says:  “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”  And Father, make us seek Your wisdom rather than fall with our pride.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fran

prayer requests 10/25/12

Dear prayer warriors:

Pray for Mimi Reasor, close friend and co-worker of Gloria Rocci’s.  She had a seizure at work and was unresponsive as they took her by ambulance to Town and Country Hospital.

My husband, Paul, was doing well today.  He’d been to exercise this morning and was going to bingo this afternoon at 1:30.  Said he didn’t win anything, but lacked 2 for coverall.  I took the final documents needed at the Florida Veteran’s Nursing Home today.  She said his case would be reviewed today and she’d get back to me within two weeks to let me know where he stood for admission.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers for so many.  God bless you.

In His service,

Fran
