Pack A Sack

Many of you have asked how they can help with pack a sack, so I thought I’d put together some additional information on needs, how you can help, etc.
  • Prayers – We deliver bags every Friday.  Consider adding these children to your prayers on Friday’s.  We pray these bags bring them hope, they feel love that went into packing them and that this food provides the nutrition they need.
  • Include Pack a Sack in your giving at Wesley.
  • Pick up a few items that are highlighted in the weekly information that is sent out in the This Week at Wesley
  • Coupons/Coupon queens – Do you know someone that loves to coupon and is really good at it? We would love to have them help us decrease our costs associated with purchasing food items for the weekly bags.  If you know someone or know of a “coupon group”, I’d love to chat with them to see if they can help us save some money.
  • Walmart Neighborhood Grocer (Town n’ Country) – does anyone know a manager that works at this location?  It appears they already support Town n’ Country Elementary school as one of their chosen charities, so I was hoping to maybe speak with someone there to about helping us help TNC by providing some food items, plastic bags, etc.   A personal introduction can go a long way.
  • Corporate Sponsors – We are still looking for corporate sponsors for Pack a Sack.  If you know of anyone that might be interested in helping with a one time or monthly contribution, I’d be happy to speak with them and answer any questions they might have.
  • Food drive – do you belong to a group (like Bunco, a book club, or even a group of co-workers) that might be interested in gathering food items for PAS?  This year we had the brownie troop that meets at Wesley collect food, another girl scout group collected, Pinellas County Property Appraisers office collected items over the holidays and Sweetwater community just down the street collected items this past weekend at their annual Spring Fling.  I’d be happy to help with putting together a list of items for your group.  Small groups can really make a big impact…

I hope this helps and again, we sincerely appreciate all your prayers and support these last few years with keeping Pack a Sack going and growing every year. Thank you from all the Pack a Sack Volunteers – For questions or more information, please contact – Jamie Wright, 813/967-3800 or email:

Pack A Sack Blessings

Pack a Sack has been on the receiving end of so many blessings lately, so we wanted to share how we are reaching beyond just Wesley.   Back in February, Tampa Day school (thank you Susan and Jack Lamont), choose Pack a Sack as their chosen charity for their annual Hawk Walk.  For the Hawk Walk, students of Tampa Day School walked and or ran laps and received sponsorships for every lap completed to earn money for the school and their chosen recipient, which this year was Pack a Sack.  We will receive 20% of their total funds raised…stay tuned for more on how much was raised.

Last week, we had the team from Create + Co (Ali Hubbard and co-workers) come on Tuesday to pack for the month of April. It was an opportunity for team building for them, and the chance for us to share what we do with others and have them do some of the heavy lifting. Not only did they do the packing for April, but we also worked together to get our expiration dates in order, and tidy up and organize the shelves as we wind down for Summer. Lots of laughs and a good time was had by all. Thank you Ali for the support and sharing a wonderful morning together.

Then, this past weekend Sweetwater subdivision held its annual spring fling and collected food items for Pack a Sack. Thank you Leslie Berlin for all your support and asking your neighbors to help with such a great cause. This is the 2nd year in a row that Sweetwater has done this for our ministry. We are grateful for your support.
