God's Word teaches us that He created us in His own image at the beginning of time. At the conclusion of each creative act, God pronounced what He had done as "good". When all was completed, God saw that Adam was alone and stated: "It is not good for man to be alone." It is here that God created Eve to provide companionship for Adam.
