Help Bring Christmas Joy

The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home was established in 1908 to provide a home for orphans and other children that had nowhere else to live.

Today it serves as a diverse ministry with two campuses that include residential, therapeutic group, foster and emergency shelter care. The Home also provides independent living assistance and a community child care center

Throughout its long and valued history the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home has been a haven of peace and a merciful blessing to all that have come into her care.

For the past four years the Children’s Home has requested gift cards in lieu of gifts from our churches and have found that this is a more convenient way to support our children at Christmas.  Therefore they are asking us to purchase gift cards again this year.

Because the house-parents and therapists know the children well, they will go shopping for gifts using a portion of the gift cards.  These gifts will be wrapped and placed under the Christmas tree to be opened on Christmas morning, along with a few cards that will allow our youth to go shopping.  The goal this year is to be able to give each child $150 in gifts and cards.

They would be most grateful for the purchase of gift cards in increments of $10, $20 or $25 to major chain stores and restaurants.  Especially useful and flexible for the children are Visa, MasterCard and American Express gift cards.  Other suggestions include Wal-Mart or any  other major chain store.

House-parents like to treat the children over Christmas break by taking the children to dinner so gifts cards to Cheddars, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel and Outbreak are much appreciated.

The gift cards need to arrive at the Children’s Home before December 7th.  Won’t you  please help out and have your cards into the church office by Monday,  December 5th.

Let’s help make this one of the best Christmas’ ever for the children at the United Methodist Children’s Home!
