Here at Ruah (ru-ah) we are all about students and their families and we want to connect with you and have you jump into our growing community.
The name Ruah is certainly pretty odd sounding, and it should because it is ancient Hebrew.  It means spirit, breath, and even wind…it is interchangeable in its definition.  As we thought together about what word or idea that we wanted to be defined by, this reoccurring theme of breath and spirit came up.  Because as a group we want to be a “breath of fresh air” for our families, friends, schools, and communities.  And then in our own lives, we want to be true to the Spirit of God and accept the constant “winds of change” to help us grow and mature holistically.
We are, a group of students and adults who know that this world is not all there is and that Christ spoke of a Kingdom of Heaven that is to come.  And we are trying to live that Kingdom today and more each day.
We welcome, all students from grade 6 through seniors in High School, it doesn’t matter where you are on your faith journey.  We are open and welcoming to all, just like Christ.  We won’t be perfect, that is a guarantee, but we all want to be part of a place of fun and deep authentic relationships.
We know, that deep authentic relationships were the key to not only Jesus’ ministry, but that of the disciples and the early church, and we want to be a place that is reflective of that great legacy.
We understand, finding the right youth group and church to attend can be a daunting task.  All we know is that we are seeking to be more like Jesus and we want to share the joy of this journey with others.
We gather regularly on Wednesday nights throughout the year for music and a fun lesson…this is the best way to connect with us regularly.  We meet in the “attic” (youth room) from 6pm to 8pm.  We also gather on Sunday mornings before church for a relaxed discussion on the couches, that is at 10am.
We travel on a regular basis as well…there are retreats, camps, river trips, beach days…a variety of outings.
We serve.  Jesus also teaches us to be servants to one another and the world so we make an effort to regularly help with local food banks, Metropolitan Ministries, and our community.
So please join us and check it out for yourself…we think you can find your home.
